FIMC Partners with Vetster to Bring Virtual Pet Care to Its Bundled Benefits Plans
Partnership delivers convenient access to trusted veterinary care through select partners in the U.S. and Canada
FIMC is partnering with Vetster, a leading veterinary telehealth and pet care marketplace, to offer Pet Benefits, including virtual pet care, through select partners in the U.S. and Canada. The benefit gives eligible members a reliable way to reach licensed veterinarians through Vetster’s secure virtual care platform.
For many pet owners, accessing veterinary care can be challenging due to cost, scheduling, transportation, and geographic availability. These challenges can be particularly significant in rural and underserved communities, where access to veterinary professionals may be limited.(1) The ASPCA(2) reports that one in four pet owners said there was a time in the past two years when they wanted or needed veterinary care but were unable to get it. Among those with an unmet need, 69% expressed interest in using veterinary telemedicine if it were available. This same report described telemedicine as a “lifeline” for pet owners facing financial, geographic, and logistical barriers to veterinary care.
The Pet Benefit includes online veterinary appointments and chats, making it easier for pet parents to access timely care when a concern arises. Vetster veterinarians can assess symptoms, recommend next steps, develop a care or treatment plan when appropriate, and help determine whether an in-person visit is needed. Support is available for concerns including acute medical issues, allergies, behavioral changes, flea and tick prevention, vomiting and diarrhea, and skin conditions. Where regulations permit, veterinarians may also prescribe medication.
“Pets are an important part of our members’ lives, and unexpected pet health needs can create both stress and expense,” said Miguel Jansen, VP of Channel Enablement. “Our partnership with Vetster allows us to extend the practical value of our benefits into an area where access, convenience, and affordability can make a meaningful difference for pet owners.”
“Every pet parent deserves a way to access trusted veterinary care when their pet needs it,” said Mike Wilson, Vetster’s Vice President, Enterprise. “Through FIMC we’re excited to be extending access to care further, helping remove barriers and giving more pet parents a way to connect with a licensed veterinarian from the comfort of home.”
The Pet Benefit is currently available through select FIMC partners in the U.S. and Canada, with availability subject to individual membership plans.
